Recently I have had great success with Body/Mind Bowen in assisting my clients to realise and release traumas which have been held in their bodies for many years, maybe even lifetimes ...
Body/Mind Bowen is still 'Bowen Therapy' although treatments are done differently, enabling the therapist & client to track the sensations.
As opposed to regular Bowen therapy, wherein a series of moves are done with 2 minute breaks, Body/Mind Bowen provides for long(er) breaks allowing the client 'space' to tune in, feel and observe their responses, (which can sometimes last up to 20 minutes). Often, longer lasting responses are an indication that the body is out of balance. Observing these sensations with equanimity ie. scanning the body's sensations and observing, with acceptance, whatever is experienced, begins clearing the body/mind of any current or potential psychosomatic 'dis-eases'.
Clients can release birth traumas, as trauma can start when we are in the womb. It is interesting/helpful to know a little about your birth eg. first born, natural, Caesarean, forceps, mother's state of mind, prematutre etc.
This is a safe and stress free release, as there is no need to go into the past trauma in detail, merely being the 'watcher' and realising what has been trapped in the body is enough.
Hyper or hypo sensitive areas can be brought into balance through touch and body scanning, both of which relax muscle tissues, increase blood flow and generally equalise attention to include all sensations. At the same time, layers of memory can surface safely. On a deep spiritual level, we keep ourselves separate from our true selves via these memories, which are stored as contractions in our cellular consciousness. A healthy and balanced body allows deep connection to our essence and provides true presence, love, harmony, balance and vitality through the physical form. Body/Mind Bowen assists us to release long held traumas from the body and mind, enabling us to move towards pain free living and empowering us to live from our heart and soul.
Relating sensations in our body to memories/traumas of the past helps us to become 'aware,' which begins the healing process and facilitates acceptance and 'letting go'.
